Xiaomi holding special event filled with surprises on the 31st

Xiaomi, the Chinese company that has taken the world by storm with its affordable, high-end devices, has a birthday coming up. On the 31st of March, Xiaomi is turning 5, or at least it is celebrating 5 years since it started making gadgets like those that have yielded millions of positive reviews from customers across the world. Although the company hasn’t revealed much about their March 31st event, many people are expecting a handful of surprises to show up.

Xiaomi has already told retailers and companies across China and the world to be prepared, because it is going to launch a huge amount of devices this year and the company expects to sell them like fresh bread, as the saying goes. At the end of the month, when Spring will already be blooming across the planet, Xiaomi will announce new smartphones and gadgets, and sources say that they will also introduce a smart watch.

The alleged Xiaomi smart watch will mark the entrance of the company into the wearable market, a market and industry that is already rather saturated, yet lacks the popularity it should among consumers. Tech enthusiasts are reluctant when it comes to smart watches, because not even the Apple Watch has made their device special enough in order to warrant a huge demand. Since smart watches are basically small smartphones that need to be tethered to another mandatory device (save for a few like the Samsung Gear S), consumers don’t really feel an ardent need to buy them as accessories, due to their price tags.

Although a smart watch might be possible from Xiaomi, it’s unconfirmed so take it with a grain of salt. What’s a sure deal is at least two new smartphones, supposedly a mid-ranger and a high-end smartphone, most likely the Xiaomi Mi5. The Xiaomi Mi Note and Mi Note Pro were launched a few weeks ago and have taken the tech world by surprise with their good build quality, good hardware and relatively low price point. Although these phones are mainly available in China, Xiaomi is constantly expanding and will be doing so this year, more than ever, according to company officials.

Although the Xiaomi Mi5 is not a sure-fare appearance at the March 31st event, we’re sure to see the Redmi Note 2 surfacing in the wild, which sounds just as exciting from what we’ve heard. The Redmi Note 2 will be an affordable mid-ranger, according to most sources. Moreover, the company might launch another device that has been dubbed Ferrari in recent benchmarks that have surfaced online. Whether this device is real, we can’t say for sure, but we hope it is. No matter what the Chinese company decides to launch at the end of the month, fans should be prepared with their wallets, because tradition dictates a lot of discounts incoming.
