Moto G Android 5.1 Lollipop update rolling out today to GPe editions

The Moto G Android 5.1 Lollipop update has finally started its rollout today, albeit only for the Google Play edition of the budget mid-ranger that is so popular across the globe. Even if the Android 5.1 Lollipop update does not fix one of the biggest issues on the Moto G, which is the memory leak bug, it does have a massive change log of at least 14000 (fourteen thousand) items that have been fixed in the new release.

Google has already issued the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for its Nexus line-up, and it seems like the Moto G GPe is next in line to get the new software treatment. We’re a bit surprised that the Moto X was not the first to get the fresh update, but there are millions of Moto G owners out there who are very glad that they’re among the first ones to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

Although the update only concerns the Google Play Edition of the device, we’re fairly sure that a couple of developers will soon post an unofficial update or the update itself somewhere for regular Moto G owners, too. If you’re still not sure what kind of Moto G is getting the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, you should know that its the original, 2013 Moto G GPe aka Google Play Edition device.
