TSM Wins Back to Back NA LCS Title

After a nine week regular season and three more weeks of playoffs, the Spring Split of the North American LCS concluded on Sunday. The final match of the playoffs featured a rematch of the previous three finals, as Team Solo-Mid faced off against Cloud 9 yet again. After a long season filled with its fair shares of ups and downs, TSM and Cloud 9 were both hungry for one more victory in hopes of earning their team yet another LCS title.

As the number one seed and the team that was in first place for much of the Split, TSM came into the series as the slight favorites. However, it was Cloud 9 who struck first, winning game number one thanks to some amazing Sejuani play by Meteos. After the game won loss, TSM was able to regroup and come roaring back. Santorin was able to get Sejuani twice. TSM support player, Lustboy, broke out the support Kennen which, though popular in Korea, has yet to catch on in the North American scene. Both of these champions were able to control team fights and allow TSM’s Bjergsen and Wildturtle to have time to deal the damage required to destroy Cloud 9’s roster. This allowed TSM to win three games in a row and clench the series 3-1.

This is TSM’s second consecutive NA LCS title and shows that they remain the region’s team to beat. By winning the Spring Split, TSM has been awarded 90 Championship Points, which gives them a nice lead in the race to represent North America in this fall’s World Championship. Their first place finish also earns them a trip to the Mid-Season Invitational, which will take place on May 7-10 and will feature the top teams from each region. After TSM’s victory at IEM Katowice, the team will certainly be happy to have yet another chance to compete on an international stage and prove that they are one of the best squad’s in the world.
