Heroes of the Storm gets release date

A blog post from Blizzard indicates that their MOBA title ‘Heroes of the Storm’ will be released to the public on June 2, 2015. However, those willing to try it out should be excited to know that Open Beta testing will start as soon as May 19. Players that have been undergoing the Closed Beta phase of the game should note that all their progress, including ‘Hero Levels’ and overall ranks will not be wiped. Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard’s MOBA title. The game grabs characters from their flagship titles, like StarCraft, Warcraft, and Diablo and pits them into different arenas in a tug-of-war to see who comes out on top.

Currently, there’s a Blizzard hosted tournament cleverly entitled ‘Heroes of the Dorm‘ that is currently in the semi-final phase. Universities from all over the North American region are competing for a chance to win paid-tuition for their college career. Broadcasts are Live on ESPN 3, and rebroadcasts are being shown on Twitch.TV.

The free heroes for the week of April 21-28 are:

  • Arthas
  • E.T.C.
  • Kerrigan
  • Li Li
  • Tychus
  • Nazeebo (Account Rank 12)
  • Illidan (Account Rank 15)

The sales for this week are:

  • Zeratul $9.99 – $4.99
  • Ronin Zeratul Skin $9.99 – $4.99
  • Grimskull Nazeebo Skin $7.49 – $3.74

We think that Heroes of the Storm is the next big MOBA. Currently, there are over 30 playable Heroes with over 130 skins, 14 mounts, and 7 different maps to play and master. If you’re still unsure whether or not HoTS is right for you, I’ve attached 4 beta keys at the bottom. Let me know when you redeem them, I’d love to play with you.

Grab one of the beta keys here if you want to try out HotS.
