7, 8 and 10.1-inch LG G Pads will be unveiled at MedPi 2014

LG G Pads of the 7, 8 and 10.1-inch varieties have been recently announced by the Korean company. The new series of tablets is expected to make an official debut on May 13 during the MedPi 2014 tradeshow that takes place in Monaco.

These new devices will be joining the LG G Pad 8.3, which was the only tablet produced by the company until now. 8.3 was released last October and generally received positive reviews from consumers. We can probably expect the same reception for the 7, 8 and 10.1-inch versions as well. The upcoming devices are said to share some of the features available to LG smartphones, including the Knock Code.

LG states in an official press release that the tablet range was demanded by customers who wanted more than one option when it comes to screen size. President and CEO of LG Electronics, Dr. Jong-seok Park says that “Customers tell us that they want a wider range of devices that offer sizable screens without compromising portability,”. He also added that “Unlike smartphones, tablets are not one size fits all. So we designed the G Pad Series for a diverse target audience, some who prioritize portability while others want the best multimedia experience possible. G Pad delivers on all counts.” Dr. Park explained.

Few details have been given except the display size, but we know that the G Pad 7.0 is designed to offer both portability and power. On the other hand, the G Pad 8.0 mid-sized tablet is said to offer an immersive multimedia experience and smooth multitasking. Last but not least, LG claims the G Pad 10.1 will provide you with endless hours of entertainment and fun thanks to its large display and battery.

Nothing was mentioned about the specifications and prices for the G Pad series, but it is assumed they will be in part similar to LG’s current tablet. The G Pad 8.3 sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad core processor running at 1.7 GHz and comes equipped with 2 GB of RAM. The device also features a 1920 x 1200 resolution display with 273 pixel density, 16 GB internal storage memory and 4,600 mAh battery. LG G Pad 8.3 is currently priced at around $350 and comes with Android 4.2.2 JellyBean, but can be upgraded to v4.4.2 KitKat.

The Korean company had a successful run with the LG G2 smartphone, and will probably offer another excellent product once the LG G3 is released on May 27. However, this doesn’t seem to be enough for LG and now their looking to expand on the tablet market as well, we’ll just have to wait and see if it pans out. At the moment the biggest competition for the LG G Pads will most likely be Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series, which also feature 7, 8 and 10.1- inch versions.
