Super Smash Bros. 3DS secret characters revealed
While Super Smash Bros on 3DS is not officially out in Japan yet, several Japanese players got their hands on the game somehow and are streaming it on Twitch. During the streams, several unannounced characters, that were meant to be a secret for fans to discover, were revealed. Spoilers will follow in the next paragraph, so, if you want to be surprised, skip the rest of the article. If not, scroll down and read on.
The characters revealed through the streams are Wario, Ganondorf, Bowser Jr, Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, Ness, Falco, Mr Game and Watch and, surprisingly, the dog and a duck from Duck Hunt. The streams are not yet over, so we can expect more characters to be revealed in the next hours. There’s a rumour that the final unlockable character is R.O.B the robot. For those who don’t know, R.O.B (which stands for Robotic Operating Buddy) is, as the name says, a robot intended by Nintendo to act as the second player for certain NES games.
All the previously mentioned characters, and the other ones that were officially announced are playable. You can choose either one of them to play as and go through the levels. Super Smash Bros is a fighting game, developed by Sora Ltd. and Bandai Namco and published by Nintendo. The 3DS version releases in Japan on September 13, in North America and Europe on October 3 and in Australia on October 4, 2014. The WiiU will be released later this year, in Q4, according to Nintendo. In other words, just on time for holiday season.
The Super Smash Bros series was introduced in 1999 for Nintendo 64. It contained eight characters to start with and four more unlockable ones. The next game, Super Smash Bros Melee was released on the GameCube in November 2001 in Japan and December 2001 in North America. The game was larger than its predecessor and it contained 26 characters, out of which 15 were initially available. In January 2008, Nintendo released “Super Smash Bros Brawl” on the Wii, in Japan. The North American release arrived two months later. This was the first game in ther series that introduced Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series and, surprisingly, Sonic the Hedgehog, the company’s main rival in the 90’s.
