OnePlus Two confirmed for 2015, release date estimated for Q2 or Q3

Chinese manufacturer OnePlus confirmed again today that we can expect to see the OnePlus Two sometime next year. According to the company, the device will be announced during Q2 or Q3 of 2015 when the specific release date will presumably be revealed as well. “We are planning to announce the OnePlus Two in Q2 or Q3 next year,” Director Carl Pei said. “So it is one year after this phone [OnePlus One].” The reveal was made shortly after the OnePlus One was officially launched in India a bit earlier. Pei also took the time to confirm that India will be among the first markets to see the OnePlus Two after it launches.

This isn’t the first time when OnePlus talks about the release window for the upcoming device. Back in late September, the company said something similar to what Carl Pei stated today, except for the India part. On the other hand, they did mention back then that the OnePlus Two is likely to run on Android Lollipop at launch as it will probably “be standard” by then. OnePlus also said that they were thinking about making the handset smaller than the OnePlus One, but apparently nothing is set in stone just yet. Ultimately, the OnePlus Two “may or may not be” the same size as its predecessor.

As for its hardware, there are little to no details just yet, although you can imagine that there are already all sorts of rumors floating around. One such rumor vaguely says that there will be “surprises in store when it comes to hardware.” No further details were given though, so we can only speculate in regards to its meaning. Interestingly, some reports are suggesting that the OnePlus Two will actually come equipped with less impressive specs than its predecessor in order to go along with the smaller form factor and display.
