GTA 5 PC – Still interested in the game despite all the delays?
GTA 5, a title that PC gamers have been eagerly anticipating for more than a year now. Rockstar Games, a company that eventually confirmed the long awaited release, but keeps delay it for some reason. I find it unsurprising that a lot of people got fed up by all the delays and decided that their money would be better spent on other games, preferably ones that actually release on time. On the other hand, many fans of the series don’t seem to be bothered by the delays and are willing to patiently wait for as long as needed. What’s more, some of these fans are even happy that GTA 5 was recently pushed back (again) on the PC because it gives Rockstar even more time to improve this version and make it better than the others. So, what category are you in?
Personally, I’m a bit disappointed by these delays, mostly because Rockstar claimed on two separate occasions that this won’t happen, and yet it did. The first time was back in September, some weeks before GTA 5’s initial “Fall” release window on the PC. “I’m also looking forward to the PC release, however this release date has not changed,” said someone from Rockstar support back then when asked about a possible delay. The second time was earlier this month when, again, Rockstar denied rumors about the delay and said that “GTA 5 will be coming to PC on January 27th. We have not announced any changes to this date at this time.” Well, as we’ve learned just a few days after, GTA 5 will actually only grace the PC on March 24th.
Interestingly, both times Rockstar said that the game still needed some “polish”. Needless to say, between September (when the PS4 and Xbox One versions came out) and March there’s plenty of time for polishing, maybe even too much some might argue. Presumably, the PC version of GTA 5 will not be just your regular port, which is why it takes a bit longer to “polish” than anticipated. That said, more than six months of polishing seems like a long time to me. The company was obviously working on it for some time already seeing as how they were initially ready to ship it last Fall. Bottom line is that Rockstar broke their promise two times now and people were expecting better from them. At least they are now offering a free game of choice for anyone who pre-orders. Unless you pre-order on Steam (where most people want it) that is. You’ll still get a free game, but you don’t get to choose. Still, a free game is a free game so we can’t really complain about that.
Unfortunately all we can do now is have faith that the company will deliver GTA 5 on the 24th, but who knows. Would you be surprised if they were to announced yet another delay? I wouldn’t. In any case, I’m a “the glass is half empty” type of person, so what are your thoughts on this?
