Rise of the Tomb Raider Teaser Trailer and Box Art Released
There had been rumblings that something was coming soon for Tomb Raider and it looks like it finally happened. Today a new trailer and the game’s box art have been revealed a few weeks ahead of E3 where we will undoubtedly see more. Until then, when can only enjoy the new trailer called “Aim Greater” that pries into what it is that drives and makes Lara who she is: “for some, discovering the secrets of the world is the only way to live.”
Rise of the Tomb Raider looks to give us a completely new location, moving away from the jungles of the prior game. It looks like Lara is going to be exploring Siberia, in the search of a lost mythical city called Kitezh. So prepare yourself for plenty of blizzards and tundra. But, if snow isn’t really your thing, the game is going to feature “globetrotting;” Lara Croft will now be able to visit various locations around the world. However, there is very little known currently about where those locations will be; other than Siberia, and a leak detailing the “Tomb of Osiris.” And in a response to fan feedback, the developers are planning on adding more tombs to the Tomb Raider game and bring Rise of the Tomb Raider back to its roots.
In Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is going to be casted as somewhat traumatized after her experiences in the last game. It can be assumed that her ordeals in the new game will force her to overcome these issues and develop into the iconic heroine that we are familiar with. And it seems Lara will have a lot to deal with, Rise of the Tomb Raider is promising dynamic weather systems, potentially dangerous wildlife, and a mysterious group of people called Trinity who are trying to beat you to the city of Kitezh.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be releasing as a timed exclusive on the Xbox One with plans for it to eventually be released onto PC and PS4. With the game set for release this holiday season, PC and PS4 owners may be waiting until sometime next year to get their hands on the game.
