Layton Returns after a 4 year hiatus
A new game from the widely popular puzzle game series Professor Layton, developed by Level-5, is back in 2017 featuring a completely new cast of characters but with the same premise as the previous games. This time around, Level-5 has convened with A-1 Pictures to bring us the title Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone’s Conspiracy. This new story is a follow-up of the last Professor Layton game within the main story arc that included Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Professor Layton and the Pandora’s Box, and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village – the first game in the main Nintendo DS series- release date was in the fall of 2008 in North America and Europe, and the last title in the Nintendo DS series – Professor Layton and the Unwound Future – release date was in the fall of 2010 in North America and Europe. The most recent game in the series, and the final part of the prequel trilogy of the games available on the Nintendo 3DS, was Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy. The release date for this game was on November 8, 2013 for all of Europe and February 28, 2014 for North America.
The new game, Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone’s Conspiracy follows Professor Layton’s daughter, Katrielle Layton, her dog, Sharo, and her good friends, Geraldine Royer and Noah Mondeor as she encounter various puzzles during the search of her M.I.A. father. Due to the death of the former puzzle designer of the Professor Layton games earlier this year – Akira Tago – Kuniaki Iwanami designed all of the puzzles in the upcoming game. The game will be available on several platforms including the Nintendo 3DS, iOS, and Android, and though the release date has not yet been announced, the game’s North American and European release date will be sometime in 2017.
