HTC One (M8) spotted running on Android 5.01 Lollipop with Sense 6 on top
The HTC One (M8) is not running on Android Lollipop just yet, but it soon will be judging by a recently leaked video coming straight from Vietnam. The video shows the smartphone using the 5.01 version of the operating system which comes with the Sense 6 user interface on top. Everything looks very similar to what we’ve seen a few weeks ago when leaked screenshots of the HTC One (M8) running on Android 5.01 Lollipop showed up, so it seems like not much has changed since then. The user in the video confirms that battery life has been improved by the update and that all the other features included in 5.01 also work as intended.
HTC previously suggested that the update should be released OTA at some point by the end of January. Judging by the video, we think that the company will be able to keep its promise given that everything seems to run smoothly now. The Taiwanese manufacturer is probably putting the finishing touches on Android 5.01 Lollipop with Sense 6 on top and will be able to start rolling it out for the HTC One (M8) in the coming couple of weeks. That said, it will likely take a while until the update reaches everyone and we don’t know which markets will get it first. It’s worth mentioning that Android 5.01 Lollipop is expected to arrive to the regular version of the HTC One (M8) as the Google Play Edition already has it.
Thus far, Android Lollipop is rolling out much slower than KitKat did after it was initially released. Google recently announced that only about 0.1% of all Android devices are now running on the update while KitKat users still account for some 39 percent. Things may pick up soon as more manufacturers start releasing Android 5.0 Lollipop and later, but the update is still expected to progress fairly slowly for at least a couple of more months. In the meantime, make sure you check out below the aforementioned video of the HTC One (M8) running on Android 5.01 Lollipop complete with Sense 6 UI.
