Galaxy Note 2 to get Android 4.4 KitKat

It seems Samsung got stuck in the “update” mode this year and it’s continuing the job by rolling out Android updates for its older devices. The company tested the 4.4.3 version on the Galaxy S4 and S5 not long ago, then it updated its S4 Active with 4.4.2 KitKat. Earlier this year, in March, to be more exact, the company also updated the Galaxy Note 3 with the latest version on Android. So in order to maintain its position as one of the leaders of the phone market, Samsung decided to expand the updating process and reach to the older devices too. Samsung announced that an Android update will be rolled out for the Galaxy Note 2 and gladly, kept its promise.

Sprint’s Galaxy Note 2 will be the proud owner of the Android 4.4 KitKat starting today. Along with this update, the Galaxy Note 2 will get all the “sweets” the Android 4.4 KitKat has to offer. We’re talking about improved battery life, wireless-printing support, full-screen album art, white status bar icons and many more. The Note 2 wasn’t the only one to receive a Android KitKat update, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 also got it share of goodies. After the latest version of KitKat was rolled out to the international version of the Galaxy S4 Active earlier this week, the Mega 6.3 got the same update today.

Unfortunately, there is a problem with this type of updates. As I’ve mentioned before, the update was rolled out for Sprint’s Galaxy Note 2, so it might take some time before all owners receive it. Sprint is the only carrier that rolled out the KitKat update until now, and it’s not sure when other carriers will follow its steps. Meanwhile, there are a couple of thing you can do if you own a Note 2 and you’re looking for an update. One thing would be to connect the device to Samsung Kies and check for an update. Or you can go to the device’s settings and manually check if there are any updates available, if you don’t see the OTA update.
