Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide announced

When it comes to Warhammer games, I have simply lost all of my hopes to see a good title coming out after Warhammer 40000: Storm of Vengeance was brought to this world in 2014. Out of the frozen landscapes of Sweden, though, an independent developer known as Fatshark has announced their intention to release Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide. Fatshark is based in Stockholm and was founded in 2004. Staffed by roughly 50 developers, the studio brought us games such as War of the Roses, published by Paradox, as well as Lead and Gold, both of which received positive reviews.

Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is based on the End Times of Warhammer and is a first person shooter and melee combat adventure which will come out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. As the city of Ubersreik is under siege, players will be given the chance to choose a character from a band of five different heroes, all featuring their unique weaponry, equipment and play-style. By co-operating with their fellow heroes in this co-op adventure, players will have the chance to experience a different approach to the Warhammer fantasy world directly through the eyes of the character they are playing, said Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark.

The game stays true to the Warhammer lore with familiar enemies and locations. Players will have to fend off a gruesome invasion from hordes of Skaven as the battle for Ubersreik turns into a bloodbath and the city quickly drowns under the shadows of the Horned Rat. As they battle the rat-men, players will have the chance to access locations such as the Magnus Tower and the depths of the Under Empire, becoming the city’s last hope of survival. Were the gang of heroes to fall, the city of Ubersreik would fall with them. The game will be released during the second half of 2015 but a teaser trailer was made available today and can be found on youtube.
