Android 5.0 Lollipop confirmed for the Galaxy Note 2

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a pretty old handset, which has passed two years since its release date and many were skeptical about the device receiving the latest Android update, namely Android 5.0 Lollipop. Samsung has been mum about the issue until now, but we finally have confirmation from the South Korean company’s branch in Poland, that the Galaxy Note 2 will be receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop soon enough.

Samsung Poland hasn’t given a release date for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on the Galaxy Note 2, but at least we now have official confirmation that the handset won’t be left out of the rollout. Those of you who still have your Galaxy Note 2 handsets in good condition will be glad to hear that the latest software update from Google will be arriving on your devices in the following few months. Since a release date hasn’t been given, we can only speculate that by March 2015, the Galaxy Note 2 will get a taste of Lollipop, but don’t take our word for it.

The announcement is in Polish, but Samsung Poland is saying that the company has confirmed that the Galaxy Note 2 will receive the update, although they don’t have further information. We are glad to hear that Samsung is still supporting the older handset, because it does have decent specs and there still are thousands of Galaxy Note 2 owners across the world. Even though the hardware within the phone is outdated compared to what we have on the market right now, the Galaxy Note 2 shouldn’t have an issue running Android 5.0 Lollipop. If you’re not familiar with the Galaxy Note 2, it comes with a 5.5 inch display with a 720*1280 resolution, Exynos 4412 CPU, 2 GB RAM, 8 MP camera on the rear, 1.9 MP camera on the front and a massive 3100 mAh battery.

When do you think the Galaxy Note 2 will taste the latest Android update? Since we’ve just received word that the Galaxy Note 4 has started receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop in Poland, we can assume that the Note 3 is next at the end of the month, with the Galaxy Note 2 coming up afterwards. Some say that most Galaxy devices should get the update by April, but we are skeptical about that claim right now, as the update rollout from Samsung is hectic to say the least.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
