Another bout against despair begins in Danganronpa V3

A new fight against despair begins in Danganronpa V3. Spike Chunsoft has announced that the release date for New Danganronpa V3: Minna no Koroshiai Shingakki will be on January 12, 2017 in Japan, and that the game will be available on the following platforms including the PS Vita and Playstation 4. This upcoming title will be the third instalment in the main Danganronpa series; it will feature a completely new cast of characters as well as a female protagonist. Albeit in the most recent title, Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, players assumed the role of Komaru Naegi – Makota Naegi’s sister – in the third-person adventure game, none of the previous titles in the main series have included a female hero.

Another significant change that audiences will appreciate, hopefully, is the change to the game’s story setting. All the previous games have been set in a school, however in New Danganronpa V3 the plot is set in a prison called Gifted Inmates Academy that educates inmates. As a result, the characters in the narrative are ‘Ultimate Inmates’ instead of ‘Ultimate Students.’ Danganronpa’s original style of game play is still the same featuring Class Trials that the player must take part in to verify who among the class is responsible for the murder of their fellow inmate. In addition to Truth Bullets, a function containing vital evidence that the player uses to shoot down contractions that emerge during debates, the player will ironically also have to use lies in order to counter their opponent’s statements.  Danganronpa V3 will also include Nonstop Debates, a feature whereby the player has to listen to several testimonies at the same time.

Danganronpa V3 is distinct but shares some of the same traits as the previous games. It differentiates from the other titles in that, in the titles name which includes the letter “ V” before the number 3, “V” is an abbreviation for victory.
