The next installment in the Call of Duty series is set to be revealed soon, with all signs pointing to it being Modern Warfare 4. Infinity Ward is handling development duties once again, with this game being the follow-up to their divisive Infinite Warfare from 2016. However, the question is this: when will it launch?
While we don’t have an official release date to work off of, we can offer an educated guess based on the release patterns of previous titles in the series. Each game in the series almost always releases in early November, though that trend was bucked with the October release of last year’s Black Ops 4. This means that we could be looking at another October release this year, though Activision could also revert back to the way it was before.
Little information on Modern Warfare 4 at this point, though it’s easy to speculate on what could be coming considering it’s the fourth one. The series has regularly been one of the most popular that the franchise has to offer, with modern combat and intense set pieces being the norm. Activision typically pulls back the curtain in May for the next title in the series, so it shouldn’t be much longer until we have much more information.
We have learned that elsewhere in the series things are getting a big shakeup, as Treyarch’s Black Ops 5 is actually now coming in 2020 instead of 2021. This is a result of Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software’s next iteration of the series running into major issues, and has thus been scrapped for Black Ops 5. The word is that the work that Sledgehammer and Raven have done so far will be taken over by Treyarch and then morphed into Black Ops 5.
More information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be coming soon, so we’ll be sure to bring you more as soon as it becomes available.
