No Man’s Sky not PS4 exclusive after all, also coming to PC

No Man’s Sky really stole the show back at E3 and was considered by many to be one of the most promising looking titles featured at the event. With Broodborne and The Order: 1886 also being there, some people were upset because a lot of great games seemed to be exclusive to just one platform, namely the PS4. While those two titles are most definitely PS4 exclusive, No Man’s Sky is apparently not, even if it was advertised as such at the expo. Director Sean Murray revealed in the latest issue of Edge magazine that the game will also come to the PC later down the line.

“No Man’s Sky is coming to PC, but will launch as a timed exclusive for PS4. So has that changed the game in any way?” Murray was asked. ”I actually got in a bit of trouble for saying that we wanted the game to feel really console-y” he said. ”We’ve always had PC in mind but in my head (console-y) means solid framerate and immediate controls. I think a PC game can be ‘console-y’ and it’s intended as a compliment, but I get in trouble for saying it. But While Hello always planned for its game to come out on consoles, knowing it’s lead platform has been useful.”

The rest of the article mostly talks about the development of No Man’s Sky, but also touches on The Chinese Room’s upcoming title, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture among other things. These are just two examples of indie games that plan on offering us unforgettable experiences. Not sure if the latter will manage it, but No Man’s Sky definitely seems very promising. However, I’m a bit concerned because there’s already too much hype for the game and it might not be able to live up to people’s expectations. (I’m looking at you Watch Dogs).
