Console version of The Elder Scrolls Online possibly delayed

The Elder Scrolls Online might not be coming out on Xbox One and PS4 in june, as many expected. A – now taken down – FAQ by Bethesda noted that the project for the two recently released consoles is suffering a delay of “about six months”, in order to allow the developer time to make the game acceptable for release. As stated, the page has been altered and there is no mention of this delay.

The game officially launched on April 4th, 2014 on PC and Mac with an expanding plan to get on the next gen consoles. “While it has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible, we have made great progress, we have concluded that we’ll need about six more months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve.” The paragraph is taken directly from the missing FAQ section.

While checking Google Cache versions, the previous release date for the Xbox One and PS4 was marked down as June, but now no such mention exists. Another check also confirms that the now missing information was present there. While an official delay has yet to be announced, retailers such as Walmart, GameStop and Amazon are still listing the launch date as June.  Whether or not the FAQ was just a mistake or indeed the highly awaited MMO is being pushed back remains to be seen.

The Elder Scrolls Online has been doing well since its launch, with only a few hick-ups such as a duping glitch that led to the banning of thousands of accounts – comically enough even accounts that reported the issue – and a big issue with the first 30 days of free access being inaccessible until after a payment method was set up.

With the probable console delay, it remains to be seen if the game is as profitable as Bethesda has hoped or if it will fall under the banner of the many WoW-killers before it such as Warhammer: Online or Age of Conan.
