New images of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha leak online as launch date approaches

We’ve been seeing more and more of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha lately, which is understandable, considering that the phone’s launch date is imminent. Samsung is most likely going to launch the Alpha on the 13th of August, so there’s not that long to wait. The company will also be unveiling another highly anticipated phone soon, mainly the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which is expected to land on the 3rd of September in Berlin’s IFA. But, going back to the Galaxy Alpha, it seems that the phone is indeed getting more attention as Samsung is getting ready to start shipping it world-wide.

The images come from Chinese Weibo leaks, and show off a more premium finish Samsung Galaxy Alpha, yet one that retains most of Samsung’s characteristic design features. On one hand, this is a good thing – we know what we’re getting in terms of design, and the addition of a metallic side-frames certainly help with the high-end look. On the other hand, Samsung should really step up its game by now and provide alternative design concepts, as things have been rather dull with Samsung devices in this regard. Still, the Galaxy Alpha doesn’t look bad at all, and promises to work well too, so there’s not much to complain overall.

In case you weren’t up-to-date with the latest Samsung Galaxy Alpha rumors, the common insider sources lead us to believe that the phone will sport a 4.8 inch display running at 720p. It will also come with an 8-core Exynos 5433 processor, which according to benchmarks actually outperforms the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, and that’s no easy feat. In addition, the phone will support microSD up to 128GB, will come with 2 GB of RAM, Android KitKat 4.4.4 out of the box (with future Android L support) and will have a 12 MP rear camera with OIS.

The Galaxy Alpha will not be a cheap phone, although it’s safe to assume it will cost considerably less than the Samsung Galaxy S5. expect a price-tag of around $550 carrier-free. That’s not exactly cheap for a seemingly outdated display, but we’ll have to see how the Samsung Galaxy Alpha acts and performs overall before giving a verdict. For now, you can feast your eyes on these spankin’ new images.
