Vertu Aster is the new luxury Android smartphone

Vertu is one of those brands that caters to those who want truly premium quality in the build of a phone, as well as excellent specs and outstanding performance. The Vertu Signature Touch and Vertu Constellation have already been praised for their design and quality and it seems the company will be rolling out yet another luxury smartphone running on Android.

The new handset is dubbed the Vertu Aster and it has just been spotted getting its FCC and TECC approval. The Aster supposedly has the same specifications as the  Signature Touch, but it will boast a different design than its predecessor. The Vertu Aster will sport a 4.7 inch sapphire display with 1080*1920 resolution and will be available with a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 CPU, 64 GB internal memory and 2 GB RAM. The device will sport a 13 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front shooter. LTE, Bluetooth, NFC, wireless charging and Wi-Fi will also be featured on the device.

Design-wise, the Vertu Aster will use the same types of materials as the Signature Touch, sporting a titanium alloy body with a leather finish and zirconia pillow and will be quite heavy, weighing 195 grams. Android KitKat will also be running the show with the Vertu UI overlaid. The Signature Touch retails for more than $10.000 at the moment, so we expect to see a price tag similar to that on the Aster. These are luxury phones which emphasize their materials and build quality, providing a premium experience for those who have that kind of cash on hand.

The Vertu UI offers a dedicated concierge – personal assistant and access to services like Vertu Life and Vertu Certainty. We will probably see the high quality Dolby Digital Plus surround sound speakers with Band & Olufsen audio tuning on the Vertu Aster as well, powered by the same or bigger battery like that on the Signature Touch. Do you think all this is worth such a hefty price tag or would you rather buy something that outdoes the Aster in specs and camera performance, like the Sony Xperia Z, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Meizu MX4, Lumia 1020, OPPO N3 or OnePlus One?

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
