MWC 2015: Gionee launching new phones on March 2

The Mobile World Congress, aka the MWC 2015 is set to kick off on March 2nd in Barcelona, Spain and various OEMs are already sending out invitations to their exhibitions within the trade show. Samsung, Sony and Huawei have already announced their events at MWC 2015 and we have a lot to look forward to from the multinational companies. But MWC 2015 isn’t just a place for large companies to get even more popular, as small companies like Gionee are also participating.

Gionee will be announcing yet another uber-thin smartphone at the MWC 2015. They have scheduled an event for the first day of the show, on March 2nd, and have already sent out press releases detailing the event. According to Gionee, their new thin smartphone will not be like the iPhone 6, Oppo R5 or other thin phones on the market, as the company promises that they won’t be making the sacrifices these companies have made. The Oppo R5 doesn’t have a headphone jack, while the iPhone 6 Plus has sub-par battery life and a not-so-sturdy build due to its thinness.

Gionee will be introducing a smartphone that doesn’t compromise in favor of thinness at the MWC 2015, and they say their design will be optimized so that hardware, performance and user experience doesn’t suffer like it does when you’ve got a protruding camera or a thin frame. We’re curious to see what kind of smartphone Gionee is prepping for the trade show, but we were pretty impressed with the Gionee Elife S5.5 and S5.1 last year. The company’s unveiling event will be held between 14:30-18:00, on March 2nd, in Hall 8.0 Theatre District, Theatre D. MWC 2015 is shaping up to be even more exciting than CES 2015 was last month, as major smartphone releases have been announced, such as the HTC One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6. Let’s see how Gionee manages to make a phone that’s thin and doesn’t compromise on hardware and battery life.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
