Tekken 7 Opening Movie Revealed

The opening movie for the arcade release of Tekken 7 has just been released. It features Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima as they battle atop a fiery volcano. The video prominently showcases the abilities that Kazuya has gained from the Devil Gene, as father and son continue their long-running feud. The opening movies in arcade releases can differ from the console versions, so fans of the series will have to wait and see.

The conclusion of the Mishima family saga was announced last year. Tekken 7 will feature a darker tone and allow players to discover the origins of the Devil Gene. The first trailer for the game detailed the backstory of Kazumi, Kazuya’s mother. Fans of the series learned that Kazumi was the original carrier of the Devil Gene. Her son, Kazuya, and grandson, Jin, inherited the gene and the evil it possesses from her.

The next instalment of the Tekken franchise will feature the classic 1-on-1 matches with a few news twists. Rage Art will allow players to execute a series of unblockable moves. These moves can only be performed when a character’s health bar is in a critical state. It will also disable the normal attack power increase. The new Power Crush mechanic will allow players to continue with their attacks even when being hit by their opponent. The game’s new staggering mechanic has been redone to prevent wall combos. However the biggest change might be the camera. Those playing multiplayer matches will find that both players will see themselves starting on the same side of the screen. Tekken 7 will flip the fighting plane. This will create the illusion for both players that their characters always start on one side of the screen.

This long-running series of fighting games has challenged players to win the King of the Iron Fist Tournament since 1994. The winner typically gets control of the Mishima Financial Group. This company and G Corporation constantly struggle to conquer the whole world. The final entry in the Mishima family saga will be released at arcades in Japan in March 2015. No further details about a possible release in the West have been provided. However the game’s director has said that “with Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.”
