Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Showcases Its Weapons in New Trailers

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is nearing its release date now, and Koei Tecmo is continuing to give glimpses into the gameplay and mechanics. The latest update comes in the form of several weapons trailers. The full list of weapons featured in the game was released a few days ago alongside the opening cinematic and more screenshots, but these new trailers demonstrate how to use some of the more unique equipment added in Empires. One a day has been added to the Koei Tecmo YouTube with twenty second looks at the formation rod, revolving crossbow, flame blade, and dragon column.

The formation rod has a mixture of magical and melee combat. Enemies can be swept to the side using the weapon or it can summon purple lightning to hit crowds of enemies further away. The revolving crossbow also combines close and far combat. It’s a little more sturdy than the formation rod, sweeping enemies off their feet. It also fires almost like a machine gun and can lift the character up in a whirlwind that blows enemies away. The flame blade is probably what you would expect- a blade that can also summon and shoot flame. Finally, the dragon column basically looks like a bench of some sort that the character uses to perform varied, effective, and also some humorous attacks.

These showcased weapons are only four of the many that will be available in Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires from the mundane to the extremely strange. Developed by Omega Force, Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is the latest in the series of spin-offs in the franchise where focus is moved away from the historical part of Dynasty Warriors to instead focus on the player’s individual experiences in the world. The different weapons encourage experimentation and strategy to make every player’s journey unique.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires will be coming out on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. It will hit North America on February 24 and Europe a few days later on February 27. Check out the weapons trailers below.
