Samsung is working on their new Galaxy Tab S line

Samsung might prepare a new line of Android-powered devices dubbed “Galaxy Tab S”. Rumors about the yet to be announced Samsung Galaxy Tab S have surfaced all over the internet over the past weeks, but the most discussed features are its AMOLED display, with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and the fingertip sensor, used for unlocking the devices or even making PayPal transactions.

There will be two versions of the Galaxy Tab S, one with a 8.4” display and one with a 10.5” display, both running Android OS 4.4.2 KitKat, powered by an Exynos 5 SoC with big.LITTLE octa-core CPU, and come with 3GB of 32-bit dual-channel 933 MHz LPDDR3e RAM on board, plus, a full connectivity set including IR blaster and a 4GB LTE (optional). The 8.4” version will be SM-T700 (Wi-Fi-only) and SM-T705 (LTE), while the 10.5” version will be SM-T800 (Wi-Fi-only) and SM-T805 (LTE).

The Galaxy Tab S slates will feature 8MP main cameras and 2.1MP front-facing units, in what concerns the video processing, this will be managed by a hexa-core Mali-T628 GPU, the camera being more than capable of recording 1080p videos. The tablets’ appearance will be similar to the Galaxy S5’s, having the same “perforated” look, and both will be available in two color tints, Shimmer White and Titanium Grey.

Samsung seems to promise big things with its new Tab S bunch, high-end hardware, great design and the AMOLED display, used only one time on a Samsung device until now, namely, on the Galaxy Tab 7.7 in 2011. But the fingertip scanner is definitely an interesting feature that adds some personality to the tablets, more important, it could also be used as a security measure, being able to authenticate multiple users. It’s not clear for how long we’ll have to wait for the official announcement of the Galaxy Tab S tablets, but we’re certain both of them will be in the spotlight when they finally emerge.
