Grand Theft Auto 5’s next online update adds flight school and many other changes

Rockstar announced today the upcoming free update for Grand Theft Auto V’s multiplayer version, Grand Theft Auto Online, and it brings changes to gameplay and the highly demanded flight school.

The flight school, as the name implies, offers players the opportunity to learn how to maneuver a combat jet through a number of 10 missions, each meant for a better understanding of low-flying, formation flying and aerial combat.

With the release date of August 19, this patch introduces new jets, helicopters and other land vehicles, as well as new parachute designs showing different flags raging from the United States’ colors to United Kingdom’s and Germany’s. It also looks like new Air Force-style garments will make an appearance with this update. Also, the patch will address mission rewards. Players who work together on harder missions will get more in-game money and items than working alone.

Three all-new mission modes will be introduced as well, giving players the chance to test their skills against others. Aquire Targets is a kill-the-carrier style mission where players battle for the control of one flag, similar to Capture-the-flag PVP mode from other MMOs. You can try competing against others in an aerial race by playing the G-Rating mode, or defend together with your team an aircraft while it flies to safety, in the Air Force Zero mode.

Sadly, there have been no news about one of the most anticipated content updates: online heists. Expected to go live in the spring, Grand Theft Auto’s update is more demanding for the developers so the release date has been pushed back to a later date. Also, the release date of it’s first expansion is still unknown to this date.

GTA 5’s PC release will take place this fall and it promises technical improvements in order to deliver a stunning new level of detail, increased draw distance, better texture details, denser traffic and enhanced resolutions aiming to bring more life to the game. Nothing will be exclusive for just one console, but instead every content released on the consoles will be available for PC. Also, players will be able to transfer their characters from the console versions to PC without any restriction.
