Moto X+1 leaked image confirms wooden back and Verizon availability

Evan Blass (better known as @evleaks), the most notorious leaker and insider from the industry has announced a while ago that he was retiring permanently from the business. However, it appears that he didn’t want to leave before offering us a retirement gift in the form of an image showcasing Motorola’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Moto X+1. The picture confirms previous rumors claiming that the device will feature a wooden back, just like its predecessor. But even more importantly, evleaks reveals that the smartphone will be available for purchase from Verizon once it releases. The design appears more or less similar to that of the Moto X, but there are a few differences nevertheless. Some of these include a metallic ring around the sides of the Moto X+1 as well as a different camera setup featuring two flash units on each side of the sensor instead of a traditional LED flash.

Previous rumors suggested that the device will also be somewhat bigger with a display measuring 5.1 or 5.2-inches and 1080p resolution. On the hardware side, we can expect to find something along the lines of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor powered by a 2,900 mAh battery. Other specs include 2 GB of RAM, 12MP primary shooter, 5MP secondary camera, and 32GB internal storage memory. The device might also include a microSD card slot, but reports are still contradicting regarding this particular aspect so we can’t say for certain yet. The Moto X+1 will most likely run on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system and upgrade to Android L once the final build is released by Google.

Motorola already sent invites for a special event scheduled to take place on September 4th and it is here where the Moto X+1 will probably be officially announced. The company is also said to launch the Moto 360 smartwatch at the event.
