Moto X+1 and Moto 360 likely to be unveiled on September 4th

Today Motorola sent out invites for an event scheduled to take place on September 4th. The invites’ design is very reminiscent of a children’s game and features four icons, each depicting a Motorola product. Two of the icons suggest that we will be seeing the Moto X and Moto G at the scheduled event while another one shows some form of headset. The last icon most likely hints at the Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch. While the latter is certainly highly anticipated, we believe that Motorola has yet another reason for hosting this event. Lately rumors about Moto X’s successor, the Moto X+1 have been rampart and the device was even spotted in several leaked photos. If true, the images suggest that the company’s next flagship is ready for launch.

Naturally, Motorola will want to make a big fuss about the whole thing, thus the September 4th event. The mentioned leaked photos showcase a smartphone that is very similar to its predecessor except for one major detail: its size. Following the increasingly popular trend of making handsets bigger, the company is equipping the Moto X+1 with a 5.1-inch display complete with 1080p resolution. Hardware-wise, rumor has it that the device will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB RAM, 2.900 mAh battery, and 12MP primary shooter. Other specs include a 5MP secondary camera and 32 GB internal storage memory. Reports are contradicting in regards to the presence of a microSD card slot so we’ll just have to wait until September 4th to find out.

The Moto X+1 will probably run on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box. It’s pretty safe to assume that we should also see an upgrade to Android L at some point as usually Motorola devices are among the first to receive the latest updates. As mentioned, the Moto 360 is also expected to be officially launched at the event. The smartwatch was unveiled back at the Google I/O and has generated a lot of interest due to its interesting circular design.
