Counter-Strike: Global Offensive CEVO Season 6 prize pool announced

CEVO opened the registrations and announced the prize pool for the eSports competitions that will take place during Season 6. While Season 5 featured $19,635 in prize money, in Season 6 we’re seeing an increased of over $4,000 for a total prize pool of $24,100. In addition, the prize pool has the potential of getting even bigger thanks to CEVO’s community crowdfunding program that allows players and fans to chip in. CEVO says that absolutely all of the money gathered via the crowdfunding program will go towards increasing the Season 6 prize pool. Regardless of whether or not the prize pool will increase, more than half the money will go towards the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament.

$15,000 out of the initial $24,100 will be split between the Professional, Main, Intermediate, and Open Counter-Strike: Global Offensive divisions. Just as its name suggests, the Professional division includes some of the best teams in North America who will get $11,275 of the total prize money. This division features 16 teams, but only four of them will get to split the money, with the best one receiving 50% of the prize pool, the second best 25%, the third best 15% and the fourth best 10%. The Main division has a total prize pool of $2,225 and includes 48 semi-professionals teams. Aside from receiving part of the money, the top six teams will get to advance to the Professional division in the next Counter-Strike: Global Offensive CEVO season. The Intermediate division is open to anyone who pays an entry fee of $10 and features a prize pool of $1,355. The top sixteen teams will get to advance from here to the Main division in Season 7. Last but not least, the Open division is true to its name and allows anybody to join without paying an entry fee. The top four teams will skip the Intermediate division and advance directly to the Main division. First place will also receive a $150 paycheck.

Registrations for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive CEVO Season 6 began earlier this month and will end on November 23rd. The preseason begins on November 16th while the first regular season matches will kick off on November 3oth. Aside from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, CEVO Season 6 also includes tournaments for Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, Hearthstone and Battlefield 4.
