Player feedback helped shape the eSports side of Call of Duty Advanced Warfare says Sledgehammer

A new age of Call of Duty will begin tomorrow with the launch of Advanced Warfare. The latest title in the series is very different than its predecessors thanks to its very futuristic vibe. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be focused on storytelling and the single player campaign, but what about the multiplayer? CoD has become very popular on the eSports scene these last few years, so one can only imagine that developer Sledgehammer Games was careful not to overlook this very important component either. That is indeed accurate according to Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey who adds that “from day one the multiplayer experience was based off of fan feedback.”

Condrey reveals that the team behind Call of Duty Advanced Warfare worked closely with people from the eSports community to create a great multiplayer component for the game. Sledgehammer received feedback and suggestions from them on how to balance the game properly for competitive play. Also based on feedback, the developer decided to reintroduces games modes such as Hardpoint and Capture the Flag as well as make Call of Duty Advanced Warfare more enjoyable for spectators to watch. The community also helped with suggestions for new weapons, map types, the improved spawning system and many other things according to the co-founder.

As for the people who will be playing Call of Duty Advanced Warfare at a competitive level, Condrey seems confident that CoD pro players will really enjoy this new installment and all the new things it has to offer. He also seems to be very impressed by what these competitive players have achieved with the previous games in the series and thinks that they will adapt very quickly to Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. “We make this game, we live this game for three years and they pick it up and do remarkable things off the bat,” Condrey replied when asked about pro CoD players. “I sometimes think that I’m pretty good and then I immediately find out that’s actually not the case. These guys are remarkable.” You can view the full interview with Michael Condrey regarding Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and eSports below.

About Egon Kilin

I’m Load The Game’s co-founder and community manager, and whenever I’m not answering questions on social media platforms, I spend my time digging up the latest news and rumors and writing them up. That’s not to say I’m all work and no fun, not at all. If my spare time allows it, I like to engage in some good old fashioned online carnage. If it’s an MMO with swords and lots of PvP, I’m most likely in it. Oh, and if you’re looking to pick a fight in Tekken or Mortal Kombat, I’ll be more than happy to assist!
