Disgaea 5 PS4 Exclusivity Explained

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Now, developer Nippon Ichi Software (NIS) has revealed why they will not release the game on any other Sony consoles.

In an interview, NIS president Sohei Niikawa explained why we will not see Disgaea 5 on the PS Vita and PlayStation 3. For the PS Vita version, he had this to say: “…we are developing the game with PlayStation 4 specs, so to be honest, it’s impossible to port the game to the PlayStation Vita. Porting the game without erasing a lot of features and cutting down the amount of assets would be very difficult, and of course, we do not wish to do that. I think there are people waiting for a “Return” version with all of the contents [and DLC] included, but I’m sorry, that will not happen this time.” Niikawa went to explain that Disgaea 5 will not be on the PlayStation 3 because he wants to help the PlayStation 4 in Japan. By not publishing the game on the PlayStation 3, NIS thinks that PlayStation 4 sales will increase in Japan. That will remain to be seen.

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance will be taking advantage of the PlayStation 4’s power. The number of characters displayed on-screen will increase up to 100, compared to the 10 characters that would be on-screen in the PlayStation 3 titles. Another new feature will be the display of resistance and affiliation statistics when units on the battlefield are highlighted. Going with the game’s theme of revenge, Disgaea 5 will have a revenge system that is triggered when party members fall.

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance will release on March 26th in Japan. The game will come overseas in the Fall of 2015. It was also mentioned that curry will play a big role in Disgaea 5. It will not only be character Usaria’s favorite food, but will also have a large part in the story.
