Dishonored coming to current gen consoles: pre-download now on Xbox One

On August 25th, Dishonored joins the ranks of other last generation games that are coming to current gen. For $40 (in the United States at least), you can get the Dishonored Definitive Edition which will include all of the DLCs released for the game. This includes Dunwall City Trials, The Knife of Dunwall, and The Brigmore Witches. Also included is the Void Walker’s Arsenal, a collection of all of the pre-order bonuses which offered various character bonuses. On the Xbox One, you can pre-download the game now, but you cannot play the game until August 25th.

Dishonored is a first person stealth based game where you play as Corvo Attano, the bodyguard of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin, who is framed for her murder. Shortly after her death, Dunwall is plunged into an era of disease, with the City Watch trying to hunt you down and restore order. While you can choose to kill all in your path on the road to vengeance, you can also choose to dispatch your targets through non-lethal means. Ultimately, this will have an effect on the story and the characters in it. The game was praised for its smooth combat and stealth system and the many ways that you can approach an objective, though some did criticize the game for being boring.

The DLCs included in the Definitive Edition are Dunwall City Trials, a challenge mode, as well as The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches. The latter two DLCs are story based DLCs that follow the trail of Daud, the leader of the Whalers and killer of the Empress, and the things he did after Corvo escaped from jail in the beginning of the main game. Eventually, he comes into conflict with the Brigmore Witches, a faction of women who (as their name implies) wield supernatural powers.

Dishonored is also slated to have a sequel, Dishonored 2, which takes place 15 years after the events of this game. In Dishonored 2, you get to play as Emily Kaldwin, the daughter of the Empress from the first Dishonored. Rather than taking place in Dunwall, Emily has to travel to Karnaca to regain her place on the throne after being usurped as Empress.
