Blizzard reveals pricing for Curse of Naxxramas – A Hearthstone Adventure

Blizzard Entertainment finally revealed price details for Heartstone’s highly anticipated Curse of Naxxramas expansion. The dungeon will feature five different wings and you can purchase access for each one of them separately or in bundles. However, if you attend the Curse of Naxxramas launch event you will gain free access to Hearthstone’s initial wing, The Arachnid Quarter. This is the first wing to be made available and the subsequent wings will only open up on a weekly basis. The launch event lasts for about a month so there’s plenty of time to tackle The Arachnid Quarter’s bosses for free. Defeating Anub’Rekhan, Grand Widow Faerlina and Maexxna rewards you with brand new cards for your collection.

As far as pricing is concerned, each individual wing can be purchased for $7 or 700 gold. Alternatively, you can also choose to buy a bundle including all five of them for $25. If you unlock The Arachnid Quarter during the Curse of Naxxramas launch event then you only have to spend $20 in order to unlock the remaining four. Already owning two wings means than you can buy the remaining three for $15 while owning three wings means you have to purchase the remaining two for $10. The pricing system is a bit strange, but includes a discount if you purchase bundles so I can’t really complain about that.

Remember that you can get the full Curse of Naxxramas – A Hearthstone Adventure experience absolutely for free as well. Sadly, that would require you to amass quite a bit of in-game gold. If you unlock The Arachnid Quarter for free then you will need 2.800 gold to unlock the other four wings. If not, then the full five-wing Curse of Naxxramas package will end up costing you the hefty sum of 3.500 gold. In either case, you better start saving up because it’s going to get very expensive. As a side note, there is also the option of purchasing some of the wings with real money and the others with in-game gold so keep that in mind.

An important thing to point out is that buying a bundle will not give you early access to any of the new content. Blizzard says the week-by-week schedule applies to everyone, real money customer or not. It looks like the company has delivered on their promise of keeping the option of enjoying Hearthstone completely free, although it does require players to hoard large amounts of gold. The Curse of Naxxramas expansion will arrive later this month for PC and iOS. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
