Motorola Droid Turbo announced, packs Snapdragon 805 CPU and 5.2-inch display

The Motorola Droid Turbo is finally officially after being the subject of plenty of rumors these last few weeks. As it’s often the case these days, most of the rumors turned out to be true and the leaked pictures and spec lists were indeed accurate. The device is exclusive to Verizon Wireless, much like all the other smartphones in the series. In fact, the latest handset to join the family was announced at an event co-hosted earlier today by the carrier and the phone’s manufacturer. The Motorola Droid Turbo seems built for endurance as it has a body made out of metalized glass as well as a Kevlar back cover. Add to this the fact that the display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and you have one very resistant smartphone on your hands.

As impressive as that is, the device’s specs are even more so. The Motorola Droid Turbo comes equipped with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 resolution, which amounts to a grand total of 565 pixels per inch. A quick peak under the hood reveals a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset complete with quad-core Krait 450 processor clocked at 2.7 GHz, Adreno 420 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. The Motoroloa Droid Turbo also features a 21 MP primary camera, 32GB/64GB internal storage memory options and an absolutely massive 3,900 mAh battery pack. Motorola says that the battery will last for up to 48 hours of mixed use before you’ll need to reach for the charger.

As you might imagine, the device will only be available on contract (at least for now) with Verizon and you can get it in Metallic Black and Metallic Red colors. The 32 GB Motorola Droid Turbo will cost $199.99 while the 64GB model is going to be priced at $249.99. You will be able to purchase the phone starting this Thursday, October 30 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board. Motorola says that the Droid Turbo will upgrade to Android Lollipop in due time so it will probably skip 4.4.4 entirely.
