Coil whine free, reference cooled Geforce GTX 970 cards are now available

Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 970 reference models are very hard if not impossible to find on the market right now, mainly because every major manufacturer out there is preoccupied with developing their own custom versions of the 900 series Maxwell cards. This is no longer the case, as Overclockers UK have decided to break this pattern and come up with their own GTX 970 reference model which employs an overhauled reference cooling system. Currently, this reference GTX 970 model designed by OCUK is the only one available on the market, and to make things even sweeter, the graphics card features a redesigned reference blower style cooler which enables increased performance.

This was accomplished by the so called VGA Guru of Overclockers UK, Gibbo who has managed to improve the blower style cooler design by replacing the containers housing the conductors with better quality parts, in order to reduce and eventually eliminate any possibility of coil whine. OCUK said they have given clear instructions to their manufacturer to utilize only Samsung memory on their GTX 970 reference model, which is also great news. This in-house OCUK reference card is probably your best choice if you are looking to buy a GTX 970, for two obvious reasons: 1) it’s quite surely the most discrete GTX 970 graphics card under full operational load thanks to its reference Nvidia cooler, and 2) any possibility of coil whine has virtually been eliminated due to the improved design of its cooling solution, courtesy of Gibbo. As the GTX 970 probably delivers the best performance in its class, this particular model would be an ideal solution for a 2 or 3-way SLI setup, given its reduced noise output and cooler temperatures. And of course, not to forget 4K gaming.

The OCUK GTX 970 is currently priced at £319.99, which is about $500. You can click here if you’re looking to buy this card, or simply take a closer look. Check out some of the technical specifications as detailed by Overclockers UK:
