World of Warcraft patch 6.1 brings Twitter integration, upgradable Heirlooms, Veteran Edition accounts

Curious to find out what the next major World of Warcraft patch will bring to the table? Well, you don’t need to wait for Blizzard to make an official announcement because the change log for patch 6.1 has already been leaked online. An interesting new feature that will make its way to the game soon will apparently be Twitter integration. If you have an account on the popular microblogging platform, you will be able to send tweets directly from the World of Warcraft. The in-game system will give you a few suggestions based on what you’re doing at the time such as raiding, battlegrounds, or when you earn an achievement and you can even attach screenshots to the tweet.

Another interesting new feature found in the change log talks about Heirlooms that can be upgraded to level 90 and level 100. Also, it seems that Blizzard might be launching a new World of Warcraft account type called Veteran Edition. This account has restrictions similar to Started Edition accounts, but little else is known about them at this time. Elsewhere in the patch 6.1 change log, it says that players will be able to cancel their current flightpaths and land at the next Flight Master. This is a feature that should have been implemented a long time ago, so I’m glad to see that it’s coming in the next patch. Patch 6.1 also adds new quests to World of Warcraft and you will be able to find them at the Iron Docks 5-man Dungeon in Gorgrond.

As expected, the new patch comes with a variety of new weapons, armor, pets, and consumables, but there are also three new mounts that players can add to their collection. On the more technical side, Patch 6.1 brings new textures for Blood Elves and several more anti-aliasing options. You can also expect to find small additions to the user interface and a couple of new Warlords of Draenor-themed loading screens. Aside from all of that, Blizzard is making quite a few changes to the Garrisons in Patch 6.1. Finally, lore buffs will be happy to know that a new Legendary quest line awaits them in World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor once the new patch kicks in. I don’t want to spoil anything, so check out this post on MMO Champion if you want to learn more. The full patch notes (or at least, what is known so far) can also be found there.
