Logitech Unveils Slick New Racing Wheels

Buckle up and fire up that digital engine, Logitech had unveiled new top-of-the-line racing wheels for Playstation systems, Xbox One, and PC. There will be two models, each with realistic feedback and feel. On the Logitech Blog, the announcement post reads, “The wait is finally over with the announcement today that the Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel for Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 will be available in July, and the Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel for Xbox One and PC will be available in October.”

The G29 for the PS3 and PS4, will put you back a fair bit at $399.99 USD. The G290 will work with Xbox One and PC, scheduled for an October release for $399.99. If the Xbox and PC drivers want an even further realistic feel, they can pick up an added 6-speed manual shifter for $59.99 USD as well. For PS4 owners, the wheel will cost the same amount as the system they’ll be using, while Xbox One players will be paying $50 USD more since Microsoft dropped the price of the console in the not-so-distant past.

Both wheels will include many impressive features, some cosmetic and some to help steer you down the road of victory! The G29 and G290 models will provide a hand-stitched leather wheel and stainless steel shifters and pedals. Logitech has also put it’s gear-heads to work with some key feedback and steering features to give you the most realistic feel possible. “Each wheel has been engineered with dual-motor force feedback to realistically simulate the feel of your car. Helical gearing ensures exceptionally smooth, quiet and precise steering action. Anti-backlash hardware keeps the wheel and pedal input tight, to maximize control.”

Logitech also promises in their announcement video, that they’ve taken all the feedback from fans and race lovers, and put them into these fancy new peripherals. While Xbox One owners may have to wait a few more months for their wheels, the advantage they have is an already-announced Forza Motorsport 6 slated for late 2015. Unfortunately for PS4 owners, the Gran Turismo franchise is still hush-hush as per usual. Either way, is distinctly possible both will have a strong showing at this year’s E3 to get racing fans excited for these new pieces.
