LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 get serious price-cuts on Amazon

Tired of your old smartphone and looking for an upgrade? If the answer is yes, you’ve probably already taken a peak at either the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the newly released LG G3. Both are currently considered top of the line smartphones, and both represent the best their manufacturing companies have to offer. So that would make them expensive normally, right? Well, that’s true, but Amazon just released a new limited time offer that makes both the LG G3 and the Galaxy S5 fairly affordable, if you’re willing to sign a contract with Sprint, Verizon or AT&T. Heck, if you go for the Galaxy S5 and AT&T, you can basically pick up the smartphone free, or as close to it as it gets – 1 cent.

Seeing that they are equally priced, the decision to choose one over the other can be tricky. Let’s go through each individually. First released was the Samsung Galaxy S5. The phone is still benefiting from an extensive and aggressive marketing campaign. Despite this, in markets such as South Korea where the LG G3 has already been available for awhile, LG’s offering quickly outsold the Galaxy S5. Overall, despite selling well, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is under-performing in terms of sales. This might be due to the fact that its design, while not bad, brings nothing new to the table. It’s still using a plastic chassis, albeit this time around, the phone is water and dust resistant. In terms of hardware, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is obviously strong, coming with a 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microUSB support up to 128 GB and a really good 16 MP rear camera with auto-focus. It also sports a good 1920x1080p Full HD 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display. There’s not much to complain about.

Except that the LG G3 also brings hardware that’s not only as good, but is actually better. The first noticeable difference comes in the display, which is a 5.5 inch, 2560x1440p QHD one. Bigger, and better, no arguments there. Hardware wise, the LG G3 also sports the same 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 CPU. However, this deal applies to the LG G3’s better variant, which has 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM. The phone has an incredible 13 MP camera with the brand new laser auto-focus technology as well as Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

Both phones come with the same connectivity features, and both come with Android KitKat 4.4.2 out of the box, with the possibility of upgrading to KitKat 4.4.4. Now, having played around with both devices, there’s little doubt the LG G3 is better than the Samsung Galaxy S5. Whether or not this difference is slight or major is a matter of opinion, but the difference is certainly there. Thus, if it comes down to one or the other, we recommend you go with the LG G3. It works better, looks better and feels better, and currently costs the same on Amazon. Of course, if you want to go for the 1 cent offer from AT&T, then the Samsung Galaxy S5 is certainly a valid option too. In any case, the price on both is great at this point, so you can’t really go wrong either way. You can check out the deal on Amazon’s official website.
