Budget LG G3 with stylus pen expected to launch next month

The LG G3 is considered to be one of the best, if not THE best smartphone currently available on the market, and with good reason. The device comes with some impressive specs and an even more impressive display. So impressive in fact that LG  is apparently releasing a variant that works with a stylus pen. Yesterday the company released a video which showcased something called the LG G3 Stylus. The video was since taken down for some reason, but we can pretty much figure out what it’s all about just by its name. Ever since the announcement people have been asking the following question: “Will it be able to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4?”.

The Samsung’s series of phablets are probably the most known devices to feature a stylus pen so that question isn’t all that strange. As mentioned, the LG G3 comes with an impressive list of specs, which allows it to go head-to-head with any flagship out there, and even win in most cases. The G3 Stylus will definitely give the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 a run for its money if it comes with some slight improvements over the regular model, and especially if LG were to add a couple of extra inches to the display. It certainly looks a bit bigger than the vanilla version in the promo picture released by the company. However, according to Korea Times, this is not the case and the LG G3 Stylus will feature a 5.5-inch display, just like the regular one. This information presumably comes from a source “familiar with the matter.”

This source also said that the device will come with slightly downgraded specs and different screen resolution. He wasn’t able to disclose any specific details but this description make it sound like we’re going to be looking at a budget smartphone. If this is true, then LG is wasting a big opportunity to actually compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Or maybe their plan is to offer a cheaper alternative to the phablet. Who knows? We’ll find out more next month as the company is expected to launch the LG G3 Stylus by the end of the third quarter, which ends in September. LG might make the big announcement during the IFA Trade Show, scheduled to take place in Berlin during 5-10 September. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be announced on September 3rd with a release to follow shortly after if rumors are to be believed.
