HTC One M8 Champions League collectors edition unveiled

We reported about HTC bringing designers onto its team in order to creat one of a kind HTC One M8 and other smartphones, which will be limited edition devices. The Here’s to Creativity program from HTC brought us the HTC One M8 Phunk edition as its first design exhibitor, with a tattoo-like back-cover with the HTC logo and design etched into the plate.

The new HTC One M8 design does not seem to be part of the Here’s to Creativity Program, rather it is a celebratory edition marking the start of the Champions League group stage. The HTC One M8 Champions League collector’s edition does not differ in specs or build from the original HTC One M8, but it does have the Champions League logo engraved on its back with an engraved UEFA Champions League cup beneath the logo. HTC-One-M8-league

The new design does look surprisingly neat and fits well with the HTC One M8’s metallic design. It can be considered a commemorative limited edition smartphone, a desirable device for Champions League fans as well as One M8 fans. Nonetheless, no matter how much you enjoy the new design, the HTC One M8 Champions League Collector’s Edition will not be available for purchase, presumably. Why make it then, you ask?

Our best guess is that HTC will probably be giving at least one of the HTC One M8 Champions League Collector’s Editions in a contest of some sort, either on social media or even held at the games themselves. There has been no confirmation from HTC about a competition or contest, but we should expect to see one at least on Facebook in the next few days, if we listen to rumors.

The HTC One M8 Champions League Collector’s Edition boasts the same great specs the original device does, including front-facing BoomSpeakers, 4 Ultrapixel camera, 5 inch 1080 p display, quad core Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB RAM, 16 or 32 GB internal storage expandable via microSD card, Android 4.4 Kitkat with Sense 6 on top and 2600 mAH battery. With or without the new thematic engravings, the HTC One M8 is supposedly among the most durable and resistant smartphones out there, according to user reviews. Even though it’s not waterproof, it is water resistant and will not let you down when you accidentally drop it into the toilet. Just saying.

What do you think about the HTC One M8 Champions League Collector’s Edition? Do you agree with HTC not wanting to sell the phone or do you think it would be a good marketing strategy that would bring considerably more revenue to the company? What kind of contest do you think HTC has in mind for the collector’s edition give-away?  HTC-One-M8-Champions-League

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
