Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro vs Asus Transformer Book T100

The Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro  was recently launched by the South Korean company and quickly became a popular convertible tablet, thanks to its style, design and powerhouse specs. The successor of the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro wasn’t bad either, but the new iteration of the convertible aims to make the genre even more popular. The flexible nature of the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro lets you maneuver it 360 degrees, thanks to the appealing watch-hinge on the side. Convertible tablets have become all the rage nowadays, because they allow power users enjoy the mobility of a tablet and the performance of a laptop in a small form factor. While the Asus Transformer Book T100 is the cheaper version of a convertible, with a smaller form factor, the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro  and Microsoft Surface Pro 3 were the leaders in the genre so far. The new Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro might just outdo all three of these convertibles, but let’s see what their specs say.

The Asus Transformer Book T100 is considered to be one of the best tablets and convertibles you can find on the market and the main selling point of the device is its affordable price. While the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is considerably more expensive, it should offer more bang for buck when it comes to performance and design. We have to admit that the Asus Transformer Book T100 design is rather bulky compared to the Lenovo 3 Yoga Pro sleek design with the added benefit of the watch hinge that decorates the device pretty well. The watch hinge on the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is not only for show, allowing you to use the convertible in any way you want to, rotating full 360 degrees. The detachable and portable nature of both these devices make them the perfect option for those who are sick of having more than one device, using each for a specific task or area of their lives. Notebooks usually act as office devices, while tablets are usually entertainment centers. With a convertible, you get both these functions and more, in a small and simple form factor. Let’s see whether the Asus Transformer Book T100 or Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro are more appealing.

The Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is clearly quite a few times more expensive than the Asus Transformer Book T100, but it does offer a way better spec sheet. Even though the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro price is on the very hefty side, it makes up for it with a nice aluminium design, extreme mobility, high quality audio, thin build (it is the thinnest convertible on the market) and a fanless design. While the new convertible from Lenovo is aimed at a different crowd than the Asus Transformer Book T100, it still looks and feels like one of the best convertibles on the market. The Asus Transformer Book T100 is designed for beginners or moderate users, and still has a pretty strong performance review in our mind. It’s a cheap convertible, with a small form factor, and it would be perfect for students, office employees as well as any other people who would rather leave their laptops at home. It doesn’t offer the same level of performance of the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, but it offers more or less the same functions, with a completely integrated desktop, Windows 8.1, various usage modes and enduring battery life. Overall, the two devices aren’t designed for the same crowds, to be fair, but both offer excellent bang for buck.

About Egon Kilin

My life-long dream has been to test out every gadget on the market! Considering the fact that I've rapidly destroyed almost every gadget I've had so far, I'm not inclined to owning something, so my ideal outcome would be to have a different gadget each month. I'm really into smartphones, wearables and tablets and I love Playstation and Xbox, I'm sure I'll beat you at your own game (after a month of training... or two)
