A shiny new era in Need for Speed

Need for Speed Teaser Trailer

EA has been teasing for awhile now about the reveal of a new Need for Speed game. This morning they followed through and released a brand new teaser trailer announcing their newest game. The game is simply being titled Need for Speed, but the official site claims it’s the start of a new era. The new trailer shows a variety of different cars speeding through a city with police hot on the trail – classic Need for Speed sort of stuff.

The new Need for Speed game is being called a reboot; the team are wanting to return the game back to its roots. I’m guessing that this explains the new title name. For fans, that means the game will have: “rich customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that drives your NFS game.” The one that stands out to me is the new immersive narrative. When I typically think of a Need for Speed game, the story isn’t typically what pops into my mind – it’s typically car chases and wanton crashes. But, little else was said about this so we will just have to wait until the full reveal to hear more.

The developers at Ghost have also been working with a group called Speedhunters in an attempt to recreate urban car culture. So, they’ve gone to car enthusiasts to discover the current and past trends in the culture in order to replicate it in game. This should make the game feel more authentic, but then again the Need for Speed franchise has never been know for its realism. It will be interesting to see what they do.

Need for Speed will be playable on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 when it officially releases sometime this fall. If a new Need for Speed is something that you’ve been waiting for, make sure to mark your calendars, the full reveal will be on June 15th. Hopefully at which point many more of your questions about the game will be answered.

About Daniel Cooper

Hi I'm Daniel and I'm an aspiring writer, avid gamer, and wanna-be cook; I'm not quite certain in which order. I like all things RPG and if that means swords n' spells, all the better. But, provided it has a good story I'll probably want to try it regardless of what it is. I'm a Windows junkie, and I spend my time gaming on Xbox, PC, and my 2DS.
